In 1943 Abraham Maslow published his iconic paper, “A Theory of Human Motivation” which contained the hierarchy which has been re-published, quoted, and used as a working model millions of times since.
Whilst this model is still true to an extent, there is a groundswell of thinking which proposes a change in how the modern day knowledge worker is driven and needs to be rewarded.
I have long been fascinated with motivation and drive, partially because it is my job to build and lead successful teams, but also as the area of human behaviour is so interesting to explore.
But this blog will not just focus on people. It will also cover the changing world of technology and how this is affecting the workplace (if there is one) of the future. I will look to case study businesses who are doing things differently, but also pose questions and challenges with this new world thinking.
In the words of Socrates:
The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not fighting the old, but on building the new.
